Barber of Sheffield Limited completes third acquisition in four months

21 March 2018

RJD Partners Limited’s (“RJD”) portfolio company, Barber of Sheffield Limited (“Barber”), the leading European ecommerce platform in the distribution of body art consumables and equipment to tattoo studios, has acquired The Tattoo Shop, based in Clitheroe, United Kingdom.

RJD invested in the management buyout of Barber in October 2016, backing a strategy for the business to consolidate its position in Europe both organically and by acquisition. This is the second acquisition completed by Barber in the last four months and consolidates its position as a leading player in both the UK and mainland Europe.

The Tattoo Shop operates with a similar business model to Barber, selling body art, piercing and other related supplies into the UK and continental European studio markets through its website and in-house product experts. The company will continue to trade under its brand but will benefit from the expansion of its product range and will now be able to offer its European customers a cost efficient next day delivery service.

Barber sells both own-brand and branded consumables, with an increasing proportion of sales coming from the development of new own-brand products. The Tattoo Shop will enhance this position by bringing with it its reputable Sabre range of machines, cartridges and tubes which will fit well within the Barber portfolio.

Frank Bulman, Partner, RJD Partners comments: “We are delighted that Barber has made another acquisition, cementing its strong position in both the UK and Europe. Richard and his team are building a business of scale in its market which ultimately benefits the customer base by offering a compelling proposition of in-house product expertise and a wide range of consumables at market-leading prices.
